Load Sizes and Water Levels Explained for Speed Queen Washers
Selecting the proper load size on your top load washer can be tricky, but with the help from Speed Queen, Bill & Rod’s Appliance, Inc. has broken down how to select the sizes.
Small Load
- 1-2 permanent press dress shirts
- 2 pillowcases
- 1 lightweight dress
Medium Load
- 6-7 permanent press shirts
- 2 twin sheets with 2 pillowcases
- 8 standard bath towels (2 foot by 4 foot) and 6 wash cloths
Large Load
- 8-9 shirts with 5 pairs of polyester pants
- 2 queen size sheets, 4 pillowcases, 2 nightgowns, and 1 pair of pajamas
- 1 queen size bedspread
One the Speed Queen washers, the manual load size water levels are dependent on the wash cycle that is selected. If the wrong load size is selected, the machine will adjust the water level as needed.
Auto Fill Water Levels
- The load size will be determined by the wash cycle, fabric type and weight of the load. Multiple stages make this determination. The first stage, water will fill to the minimum level programmed for the cycle selected. Once the wash cycle is engaged, sensing will begin and water levels will adjusted to their optimized level.
- If the cycle is paused after it is started, the sensing stage will begin again at once. This will determine if more water is necessary for the load. Overloading the washtub can result in poor washing and rinsing.
