What is the Future of Kitchen Appliances?

Over the years here at Bill & Rod’s Appliance we have seen many things change in the kitchen over the years. During the 90’s that appliances had gotten bulkier without adding to much for aesthetic appeal for the kitchen and capacities would be considered small by todays standards. In the 2000’s we began to see more of the flair come back to appliances as designers came to appliance manufacturers adding chrome and refining the bulk so that it was not just a large chunk of metal in your kitchen. Today, we are seeing more change in the world of appliances. Bespoke options, LED light, minimalist design and sacrificing not of the functionality or capacity that we are used to.

We are also seeing the rise of specialty appliances that enhance the culinary experience. Great things that air fryers, induction cooktops, dehydrators and sous vide cooking that use less energy and take less time to complete your cooking. All these specialty items have changed our kitchens as well, but now where to put them? The counters have become cluttered.

At Bill & Rod’s Appliance we are seeing amazing changes coming and things that you should be considering for your future kitchen. Great brands from across the globe are working to make appliances more efficient, packed with features specialty appliances and aesthetically pleasing. Let’s look at some of those incredible appliances.

Speed Ovens:

Many brands have released speed ovens, including Café Appliances, Miele, and Wolf, but how do they work? These incredible machines combine the power of microwaves and convection ovens. Bake, roast and broil with ease with fast results. The lower power draw will also help cut down on your bills as well. At Bill & Rod’s Appliance showrooms we have these hooked up live so we can demo just how this type of unit works.

Induction Cooking:

Induction has been around for decades and I have seen first hand units removed from homes from the 1960’s! It has become quite affordable and loads more reliable over the years. This technology uses magnets to energize the pan on top heating the pan directly. Induction is energy efficient and provides great flexibility with configuration of pots and pans. The future of this tech can even be mounted under countertops to help declutter your kitchen. Electrolux, Fisher & Paykel, and Fulgor Milano have led the way with this technology and they are on display at our Bill & Rod’s Appliance showrooms.

Automatic Programs:

Through the use of WiFi technology and factory presets, inspired by chefs, cooking has never been simpler. Whether you are a total novice or a seasoned vet in the kitchen this feature essentially ensures perfect results every time. Miele, Wolf, JennAir and more are making use of this technology in their wall ovens, ranges, speed ovens and speed ovens. All you do is select what you are cooking and how you want it to look when completed. Once these are selected you will be instructed where to place the probe, what to set the temperature to, and where to place the tray in the oven. Some will also have you select your pan type and this too will change how your meal is cooked.

The Future:

What does the future look like for appliances? It is a future of function ability, sleek features, and works of art. Smaller sizes, perhaps, but you will not be lacking in capability. Capacities may change, but you will have flexibility and will be right sized for the majority of homes. It will be easier than ever to mix brands as you like due to more of a minimalist appearance or customizable pieces to match cabinets in your home. Stop by any of our showrooms to see how the future of appliances will shape your kitchen.
