KitchenAid has finally updated their side by side built in refrigeration! This has been a long time coming as we really wanted it to look as good as their freestanding refrigeration models. The exterior has remained largely the same, but the interior has had quite a facelift!
The 42” KitchenAid built-in refrigerator now comes with a platinum interior. This silvery, gray interior adds a touch of class to the interior. LED lights wash over the contents of the freezer and fridge set against that background to make them pop. This platinum finish is accented nicely with chrome shelving.
Something unexpected is the 9”x13” baking sheet and cake pan that is included with this unit. The pan itself mounts under one of the spill-resistant shelves and can go directly from the refrigerator into the oven. Not only that, but it is also dishwasher safe! What is the point of it? This piece is ideal for storing prepped food, marinating, chilling desserts, slow proofing breads and more.
The SatinGlide® drawers make your crisper drawers a joy to pullout. This also includes the moisture and stain resistant wood-look pull out tray. This tray can be used for dishes that need to be cold stored and easier access for pulling back out of the refrigerator. This would include charcutier trays, chilled desserts, and fruit platters. This tray is also removable for easy cleaning.
Functionality and technology remain the same with this KitchenAid built in refrigerator. You have the Max Cool and Max Freeze system for quickly dropping temperatures. FreshChill™ temperature-controlled drawer to maintain specific contents for that drawer. The ExtendFresh™ Plus temperature management system that continuously adjusts temperatures to lengthen the life of fresh foods in your refrigerator. FreshFlow™ air filter is also there to filter out any smells that may develop and is 15x more powerful than baking soda.
Here at Bill & Rod’s Appliance we do feel that this KitchenAid built in refrigerator will have the same consistent quality that you are used to with their built in refrigerators. The chassis has not changed too much, but the refrigerant has. The jury is still out on the longevity of the sealed system, but there are not any indicators that we should be worried about the quality of its construction.
